THW Kiel is a legend in handball. With four Champions League titles, many German championships and successful players at Olympic Games and World Championships, the club has become a global brand in the sport. But how did a small club in Hassee-Winterbek become such a success story? The Kiel City Museum wants to answer this question in the exhibition "The Zebras - A Century of Handball". The personal experiences and memories of THW fans play a central role. A mobile web application allows fans to share their stories in text, image, video or audio format on thw-geschichten.de and thus become part of the exhibition.

The multimedia application was developed in close exchange with gradwerk and the Stadtmuseum Kiel. The challenge was to create a user-friendly and accessible platform that allows fans to share their stories with just a few clicks. Emphasis was placed on mobility of the application so that contributions could be submitted on the go and especially in the exhibition.

The platform was successfully integrated on a digital stele in the city museum and completed on both the software and hardware sides by the webworkers at gradwerk just in time for the exhibition opening.

The fans have the opportunity to share their personal experiences around THW Kiel. Whether it is about the most emotional victory, the first visit to the stadium or encounters with players, the memories should bring the history of the club closer. The contributions will be editorially reviewed before publication to ensure high quality and relevance for the exhibition. Visitors can then view and listen to the stories on the interactive station in the exhibition.

The THW Stories website and multimedia application show how digital technology can enrich cultural education in museum contexts. They not only foster a sense of community among fans, but also document the history of the club from the perspective of those who made it what it is today. The digital stele in the Kiel City Museum offers an interactive experience for visitors and gives them the opportunity to experience the history of THW Kiel first-hand.
